Chemnitz
"Fire and Flame for Chemnitz"
2026 marks a double anniversary in the history of the Chemnitz Fire Department: in October 1866, the first "night fire watch" was established, consisting of 12 permanently employed and paid firefighters. This marked the beginning of the history of the professional fire brigade in Chemnitz. The old fire station at Neumarkt soon no longer met the requirements of a growing city. In December 1906, the new main fire station on Schadestraße was officially inaugurated.
Featuring numerous historical documents, photographs, pieces of equipment, and models, this special local history exhibition offers fascinating insight into the multifaceted history of the Chemnitz Fire Department.
