And everywhere – in old factory halls and on new stages, amidst steam locomotive monuments and design markets. In CHEMNITZ. ZWICKAU. REGION., events dance the foxtrot with festivals, readings sneak through locomotive sheds, and cultural highlights find their way into backyards. Sometimes with drums, sometimes with porphyry. Sometimes with cinema, sometimes with piston sounds. So: Get out your calendar, sharpen your senses – there’s a lot to miss.
Theater of the World
From June 18 to July 5, 2026, Chemnitz will become the stage of the world: At THEATER DER WELT, Germany’s largest festival for international performing arts, 33 productions from all continents will come together. Curated by nine international curators, a multifaceted program full of new perspectives, artistic diversity, and surprising encounters will emerge.
