2nd Saxon Recorder Competition Auerbach/Vogtl.-Zwickau

The towns of Auerbach/Vogtl. and Zwickau revived the tradition of this competition—unique both in the region and throughout Saxony—and successfully hosted it for the first time under a new name in collaborative partnership in 2024. 30 participants from Saxony, Bavaria, Thuringia, and the Czech Republic took part in the competition. A concert featuring the "Rosentaler Ensemble" at St. Laurentius Church in Auerbach enriched the competition weekend.

In 2026, Zwickau will host the 2nd Saxon Recorder Competition from November 14 to 15. Drawing from the experiences of the 2024 competition, the event is set to be gently refined and developed further. A workshop will be offered to participants, and the competition will now be announced across four age categories. An exhibition of instrument makers and music publishers is also planned as a complementary feature. The musical supporting program will once again include a concert on November 14, 2025, as well as the prize winners' concert on November 15, 2025.
