Alex Christensen & Friends - The Classical Dance Show

With global hits such as “Das Boot”, “Around The World”, and “United”, he decisively helped shape the 90s and fueled the dance and techno boom. At the heart of the production is, of course, Alex Christensen himself.

Rhythm Is A Dancer, Sonic Empire, Nessaja in the Scooter version, What Is Love, Redemption, and Children – with his compositions, Alex Christensen delivered the soundtrack for an entire generation. With the new 90s Dance versions, his best-known tracks can be rediscovered and enjoyed in a whole new way. Still danceable, but no longer arranged primarily just for dancing.

With Classical 90s Dance, the circle has closed for the reserved Hamburger, as he explains: “Das Boot was originally a string piece. But when we recorded the track with U96 back in 1991, I had neither the know-how nor the resources to record with strings. Being able to combine strings and orchestral music with my dance roots during the recording sessions for Classical 90s Dance brings my entire body of work full circle.”

Staying true to his proven formula for success, he draws from the rich palette of arguably one of the most musically diverse decades, blending classical and dance music in an ingeniously sophisticated way to create an innovative sound design.

Alex Christensen & Friends will bring together five surprise guests and four string players on December 18, 2026 starting at 8:00 PM at the Sparkassen-Arena Zwickau.
