Exhibition: WORTH REMEMBERING. Jewish Traces in Zwickau
For centuries, Jewish life helped shape the townscape of Zwickau. A Jewish community existed here as early as the Middle Ages, with a "Jüdengasse" (Jews' Lane) once bearing witness to its presence. Nevertheless, one of the primary goals of the exhibition is to make the hidden visible. At first glance, traces of Jewish life in Saxony's fourth-largest city are virtually invisible today. The Jewish community in Zwickau was dissolved in 1939 and has ceased to exist since then. It is therefore all the more vital to create a lasting sign of remembrance with this exhibition project and its wide range of accompanying educational and dialogue initiatives.
