Festive Family Tour through the Special Exhibition “Geschenkt. Die Kulturgeschichte der Gabe(n)”

What occasions are there, and why is gift-giving at Christmas in particular something so special? A look back at history reveals that gift-giving is an age-old phenomenon that exists all over the world. Even today, certain expectations are tied to presents, making gifts ambiguous gestures: they can be symbols of appreciation, love, and recognition, but also of power, diplomacy, and submission. The image of the gift-bringer is equally multi-layered. Who brings the presents, especially at Christmas? Who is behind the figure of Santa Claus? The guided tour will address these and many more questions in a family-friendly atmosphere. Afterwards, children can try their hand at arts and crafts in our Christmas crafting corner.
