Guided Tours in the Kellerberge Penig

In the Penig underworld, you can discover where food and beer were once stored in stone cellars at constant temperatures of eight to ten degrees Celsius to protect them from spoiling. Extending over three levels into the rock for around two kilometers, the passageways are equipped with an ingenious drainage and ventilation system. The Kellerberge were created in 1511, and their construction took several decades before presumably being completed in 1562.
