Merry Christmas Everywhere
Every year, 20 million poinsettias are grown in Germany. One in five houseplants is a poinsettia. But did you know that this red flower originally comes from Mexico? How is Christmas actually celebrated in Mexico and Bulgaria? Or in England and Sweden? After exploring the significance of the Star of Bethlehem in relation to German Christmas customs last year, this year we are searching for Christmas stories, songs, and traditions from other cultures. When do people in England actually open their presents, and why does Santa come down the chimney? And why is the person who finds the single almond in Swedish risgrynsgröt porridge destined to be the next bride? What on earth is a »survachka«? We create small and large moments of hope and togetherness steeped in diverse traditions and colors. Look forward to new stories and classics, thoughtful and humorous poems, an audience guessing game, and polyphonic songs in different languages performed by our vocally talented trio of actresses.
