Werdau

Special Exhibition: Treasures from the Depot.

The special exhibition "Treasures from the Depot" opens doors that are usually closed, offering exciting insights into the museum's extensive collection.

Since its founding in 1917, the museum has been collecting, preserving, and researching the history of the town of Werdau and its region. Today, the collection comprises around 40,000 objects—an impressive variety, of which only a portion can be permanently displayed in the exhibitions. Many fascinating pieces are kept in storage, waiting to be (re)discovered.

The exhibition presents a diverse selection of these hidden treasures: artfully crafted ceramics and pewter vessels, historic textiles and everyday objects, artifacts of regional industrial history, as well as works by local and regional artists. Each object tells its own story and opens up new perspectives on life and work in times past.

At the same time, the special exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at museum work. It demonstrates how items are collected, preserved, and documented—and why storage depots play a central role in preserving our cultural heritage.

Discover the diversity and richness of the Werdau collection and let yourself be surprised by objects that usually remain hidden. Immerse yourself in the world of "Treasures from the Depot"—we look forward to your visit!
