Author Erich Loest (1926–2013) was born in Mittweida. On the occasion of his 100th birthday, his son Thomas Loest talks with historian Cornelia Bruhn from the Bautzen Memorial about the period of imprisonment his father had to endure. Erich Loest spent seven and a half years in the Stasi special detention facility.
The Mittweida City Library bears his name. He is buried in Mittweida.
