The Etruscans
The Etruscans have a lot to offer: a rich culture, gold, demons, art – and secrets. The wealth found in large tomb complexes in Tuscany, Italy, bears witness to great prosperity and cultural diversity.
Having grown wealthy through agriculture, the Etruscans maintained trade relations throughout the Mediterranean. They had a special connection to Greek culture – its visual imagery, religion, and the Greek alphabet. Yet much remains open to interpretation to this day. Other aspects, such as religious rituals, fashion, or temple architecture, were adopted by the Romans, whose legacy is well known.
Across approximately 1,000 square meters, the exhibition presents valuable jewelry, lustrous Bucchero pottery, architecture, weapons, and everyday objects, unraveling many a mystery of the Etruscans.
