On 28 November 2026, Chemnitz will once again solemnly echo with “Glück auf! Der Steiger kommt!” – as the Grand Miners' Parade (Große Bergparade) brings one of the most impressive traditions of the Ore Mountains to the city centre.

Around 900 participants – including uniformed members, mining brass bands, and miners' choirs – will present a vibrant piece of Saxon history. The parade starts at 2:00 PM at Theaterplatz and passes along Richard-Tauber-Straße, Straße der Nationen, and Brückenstraße back to its starting point.

There, visitors can enjoy a festive closing ceremony starting at 3:00 PM, complete with music, choral singing, and a welcoming address by the Lord Mayor. The Miners' Parade is not only a highlight of the Chemnitz Christmas Market, but also a moving prelude to the Ore Mountain Christmas season.
